Supreme Court justices

Today is Election Day! For registered U.S. citizens who have not participated in early voting, today is the day to go to their polling places and cast ballots in the midterm elections.

Supreme Court justices

The justices of the Supreme Court are considering a First Amendment case regarding religious freedom. The state of Colorado offers a universal preschool program that compensates families for sending their children to public or private preschools. While the state offers exemptions from the “equal opportunity” enrollment requirement for preschools based on disability, race, gender, or economic status, it has excluded Catholic preschools. The Tenth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals decided the state’s exclusion was not made on the “explicit basis” of religion.

The Supreme Court will be considering whether the state has unfettered discretion or categorical exemptions based on identical secular conduct. The justices will also determine when certain precedents apply to government exclusions of religious people or institutions.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For U.S. citizens as they cast their ballots and for state and local election officials to impartially and transparently gather and tally votes.
  • For federal officials as they seek to protect the elections from cyber and other attacks.
  • For the justices of the Supreme Court as they hear the case regarding the exclusion of Catholic preschools from Colorado’s universal preschool program.
  • For wisdom for President Trump and members of his administration as they set economic and security policies.
